Generally speaking, screen printing is less expensive and faster than embroidery.

One of the main cost factors with screen printing is the number of colors utilized, while with embroidery it depends on area covered (stitch count). Screen printing does not work well on textured surfaces such as pique polos.

Embroidery often cannot reproduce fine detail and small type. Screen printing on dark garments requires additional considerations, while with embroidery, garment color is rarely an issue.
