"We recently finished two projects for The Washington Post Company, a long-standing client. The company had just sold the Newsweek division and wanted to commemorate the event.
"First, HC Creative Communications worked with Dimension to produce an acrylic piece for the top staff of Newsweek. We wanted to embed a Newsweek cover of Katharine Graham on one side and the masthead on the second side. The schedule was tight, but Cliff came up with the solution: two acrylic panels, printed direct, then joined back to back and mounted on a beveled base.
"Second, we were tasked with displaying the news release and the dollar coin from the sale of Newsweek. The news release was brief, so we just used the top portion and reduced the size a bit, with the dollar coin below. We wanted to embed both items in Lucite. Cliff suggested printing the news release on acetate, to minimize the negative space and give the piece a lighter feel.
